Tweet Tweet

Today I am exploring Twitter. I have had an account for a while but tend not to use it very much. I only really look at it to see what other users are tweeting when there is breaking news. When I heard of the sad death of Wales' football manager Gary Speed recently I went straight to Twitter to read what people were saying as none of my Facebook friends seemed to have heard the news yet. I also enjoy the banter between the likes of Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United defender) and Piers Morgan (Arsenal fan!) or between Piers Morgan and Alan Sugar, who both tweet and wind each other up about how many viewers have watched their respective TV shows.

I last tweeted yesterday, but only because I was being given an extra entry into Nectar's 'Pick A Prezzie' draw if I tweeted about it!!

In my post regarding Facebook I said that I had started following Orkney Library & Archive. Funnily enough they have just won two 'GoldenTwit' awards - one for Public Service and one for Information Service. The GoldenTwits are awards celebrating the best people and organisations on Twitter. I have now decided to follow them on Twitter as well as Facebook. Their Twitter account can be found here:

My own Twitter account is @080137

I may start to use Twitter more, however Facebook is still my favourite Social Network.

I don't think my own Library Service is on Twitter, but it could be a very useful tool for them to keep the public bang up to date with what is happening.

The mighty facebook!

So, I have been registered with facebook for perhaps 4 or 5 years now and the wealth of informative pages and groups one can 'like' and 'follow' is incredible. For my '23 Things' task I have decided to follow Orkney Library & Archive. They post some really fun things and seem so much less stuffy and straight-laced than most other library pages I have looked at.

Follow them on facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/orkneylibraryandarchive

Flickr

I was right. This IS fun!

So, I have been having a look around Flickr. I'd set up an account a while back but had been too busy to spend time on it. It's been nice to revisit the site and I will now hopefully find time (famous last words) to add a lot more images from holidays and special occasions.

Here is a photo I took on my birthday in New York at the end of 2009 and this is the one I have decided to tag with '23 Things' because everyone doing this course is a STAR!

Day One

So this is my first day of learning '23 Things' - should be fun!
